Introduced by the New Zealand Government in August 2019, the NZeTA — New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority — is an online travel authorisation required for eligible visa-waiver nationals before entering or transiting through New Zealand. It replaces the need for a traditional visa for approved nationalities.
The NZeTA is valid for 2 years from the date of issue and allows multiple entries into New Zealand. Each individual stay must not exceed 90 days. Your passport must remain valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from New Zealand.
Applying for a New Zealand eTA is fast and fully online — no embassy visit, no passport submission. Eligible travellers simply complete the NZeTA application form, pay the fee, and receive approval by email. Processing typically takes between 12 and 72 hours depending on the service tier selected.
